Tiny Home Services
Pre-build questions, Design, Construction, Siting, Servicing, Municipal advocacy
Since 2014 Homes With Love has built 18 tiny homes and 300+ structures & renos of other types. We have efficient, durable, naturally beautiful systems that can be tailored to your dreams and needs present and future.
Our priority is getting more people into good homes, so our price point is in the middle range of the spectrum given our experience. We serve owner-resident, long-term rental, and short-term rental properties.
Homes With Love does both the framing up to a waterproof shell that you or someone else can outfit to save yourself money, and the outfitting/finishing as needed. How much it costs depends on size, style, contents, and other factors so please ask for a detailed estimate.
This includes all the direct elements: design, anchoring, carpentry, roofing, doors/windows/skylights, plumbing, electrical, gas, wood stove, insulation, tiling, siding and so on, following human/environmental/insurance healthy & safety.
It also includes all the support factors: trailer sourcing, site preparation, rental/services agreement with landowner, regulatory approval, maximizing your security/quality of life, minimizing your environmental impact.
All our homes can be be made on-grid and/or off-grid capable for water (municipal, well, rain), waste (septic, composting) and power (hydro, solar). Even on-grid, they save you >80% per person in terms of cost and environmental impact.
This is so you can be warm, able to cook & entertain, do all the washing, charge your devices, and grow your garden, even when the power's out, there's a drought, or you're on a remote site.
Tiny homes done this way give the freedom and security of being able to buy your first home with less than US$60,000, live in it, and be able to rent it out or resell it to help buy your next home.
It's the first time in recent history that people of average means can have a custom house made for them with all the joy, pride and dignity that comes with, previous reserved for relatively few people.
Because they're mobile, they let you invest in your housing and financial future without having to own land, and take it with you if you get a job or relationship somewhere else, the land gets sold, there's a natural disaster (forest fire, land flood etc), and so on.
That said, living in a tiny home is not for everyone, and we make sure it's the right fit when we first talk to learn your needs and vision. To book a free 60-minute consult, click here.
One of the questions we're often asked is "where will I be able to park my tiny home?" This is very important to security and freedom. I can say that in our customers' experience siting isn't usually a problem. And, to make the situation more stable and safe, we are talking with municipalities and provinces to achieve tiny home legalization without gentrification: in other words, how to have Canadians get safe, dignified, simple homes without the cost and delay of having to wait for professionals tied up with bigger, more complex projects.
